One way to attract great teachers is to think about what they want in a school.
I’m currently reading Business Model Generation in a mastermind I lead for edupreneurs. There are many handy tools in the book, one being the empathy map.
The challenge: block out an hour to work on the empathy map of a great teacher avatar.
Then, start building a school that would support that teacher. Look at your website, social media, events, main office, job postings — everything! — and reflect on the alignment between the signal you are creating and what a great teacher would want.
The empathy map can not only be used to attract great teachers, but it can be used in designing back to school nights, new classes for students, preparing for tough conversations. Putting yourself in another person’s shoes is a great way to build your emotional intelligence and leadership impact.
