A leave your legacy quote: Try not to be a man of success, but a man of value – Albert Einstein
Working on my life plan rocked my world and challenged me to deeply consider how you will leave your legacy. The first step: write my eulogy. Ouch!
As a leader, I know the struggle for fame and fortune. Even though it’s a myth, there is a great temptation to believe that a super-hero leader can change a school culture.
That’s a bunch of rubbish!
Just like the proverb says it takes a village to raise a child, so to it takes a village to operate a school. Relationships are key to moving schools toward higher achievement. The temptation of money and the next big thing lurks around every corner, but that is not what it is all about.
Why did you get into education in the first place?
Surely it wasn’t for fame and fortune. You got in it because you are a leader. You thought that you had something special in you and you wanted to make a difference. You wanted to serve.
You are right. You do have something special and you are making a difference.Try not to be a man of success, but a man of value - Albert Einstein Click To Tweet
Who are the people that you trust that can tell you hard truths? Who are the people that tell you your ideas stink? Keep them close to you.
Look at yourself in the mirror today.
Are you the person right now that you wanted to be as a child?
If not, change TODAY!
Leadership is about serving. Leadership is about people. Leadership is about adding value to other’s lives.
How do you want to leave your legacy?
Be a leader that emulates these principles.
